Achieve Terminology: Playlists, Modules and Custom Moments

Learn the key differences between content types in Achieve and how to use them to create personalized, goal-driven learning experiences

Overview

Achieve is built around flexible, modular content that can be customized to meet your learners’ needs and your organization’s goals. Understanding the core content types—Playlists, Modules, and Custom Moments—will help you design impactful learning journeys and maximize engagement.

Playlist

A playlist is a curated collection of learning modules organized around a central theme, topic, or learner goal. Playlists are the primary way content is delivered in Achieve.

There are two main types of playlists:

  • Standard Playlist: Topic-oriented collections that help learners explore and understand a subject.
Example: “Growing Your Small Business” or “Understanding Credit Scores”

  • Pathway: Goal-based playlists that combine education and tools to help learners take specific actions or reach defined outcomes.
Example: “Starting My Business” or “Preparing for Homeownership”

Note: Playlists can be customized with your organization’s branding, descriptions, and even custom icons. You can also create your own playlists using modules from the Achieve catalog or your own content.

Module

A module is a single unit of learning within a playlist. Each module focuses on a specific concept or skill and typically includes:

  • Interactive elements (e.g., sliders, quizzes, knowledge checks)
  • Written content
  • Videos or animations
  • Tools or calculators
  • Next steps or calls to action

Modules are designed to be short, engaging, and actionable. Most modules are 3–5 minutes long and can be completed in any order unless otherwise configured.

Tip: Modules can appear in multiple playlists. If a module is reused across playlists, any associated Custom Moments will appear each time the module is accessed.

Custom Moment

Custom Moments are branded, in-line content blocks that can be inserted into modules to deliver your organization’s message at key points in the learner journey. They are often used to:

  • Welcome learners to a program
  • Highlight your services or products
  • Provide disclaimers or compliance messaging
  • Encourage learners to take a specific action (e.g., schedule a consultation, visit your website)

Custom Moments are placed at the program level, meaning they appear only in the specific program where they are configured. They are not global across all programs or playlists.

Custom Moment Components

To create a Custom Moment, you’ll need to provide:

  • Module name and placement location (e.g., before the first activity, after a quiz)
  • Title and subtitle
  • Body text (paragraph or bullet format)
  • Main image (980x550px, JPEG or PNG)
  • Call-to-action (CTA) buttons and URLs
  • Optional: Disclaimers or legal language

Note: Most modules support 3–4 Custom Moment placements. Placement options are limited to ensure a seamless learner experience.

Additional Terminology

  • Moment: A single screen or interaction within a module. Modules are made up of multiple moments, such as videos, sliders, polls, or quizzes.
  • Pathway vs. Playlist: While all pathways are playlists, not all playlists are pathways. Pathways are specifically designed to guide learners toward a defined goal using a combination of education and tools.
  • Program: A program is a container for one or more playlists. Customizations like Custom Moments are applied at the program level.
  • Custom Playlist: A playlist created by your organization using modules from the Achieve catalog or your own content. These can be used for campaigns, incentives, or targeted learning experiences.
