SSO Troubleshooting: 422 - Error for an Incomplete Profile

Learn what to do if you receive this error

Error Explanation

If you are receiving a 422 Error during SSO login, it usually means your user profile is incomplete on the backend.

This error can happen for several reasons:

  • Required fields in your profile—like email address, role, or location—are missing or blank.
  • The SAML response includes a NameID or other attributes that don’t match what Foundry expects.
  • The identity provider is sending data from the wrong field (for example, a numeric ID instead of an email address).
  • There’s a mismatch in formatting or capitalization between the SAML NameID and the Foundry SSO ID.
  • The user exists in Foundry but doesn’t have a valid role or location assigned.
  • The system is trying to validate a field that’s null or incorrectly formatted.

Resolution

  1. Contact your Administrator and ask them to review your user profile in Foundry.
  2. Make sure all required fields are filled in correctly.
